It is my pleasure to present the 2011–12 Departmental Performance Report for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).
The Government of Canada is committed to strengthening the economy and creating the conditions for jobs, growth and long-term prosperity. The Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario continues to play an integral role in positioning this important region of our country—and a key driver of our economy—for enduring success.
Through strategic investments in innovation, business and community development, FedDev Ontario is helping to deliver results for Canadians—results such as high-quality jobs, economic growth, competitiveness and diversification throughout southern Ontario.
This past year, FedDev Ontario was instrumental in preparing the region to compete in the global economy through programs that are creating the right conditions for businesses, entrepreneurs and individuals to succeed. As well, the Agency has continued building new partnerships and strengthening existing ones. The result has been important collaborations that are guiding the region's potential.
Economic Action Plan 2012 outlined the federal government's priorities as the drivers of growth and job creation: innovation, investment, education, skills and communities. FedDev Ontario is working to fulfill these goals through its programs and collaborations, and will continue to support these priorities in the coming year.
