Minister of State's Message
As the Minister of State for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), I am proud to submit the 2011–12 Departmental Performance Report for this Agency.
Established in 2009, FedDev Ontario focused immediate efforts on helping southern Ontario respond to the global economic recession and the challenges it presented to the region. As the Agency has evolved, we are now focused on building a highly competitive, diversified and innovative economy, creating the conditions for sustained prosperity built on long-term growth and jobs, and positioning the region to meet new challenges and emerge stronger than ever.
FedDev Ontario's accomplishments are reflected in three key areas:
- Investing through a balanced strategic portfolio that supported investments in skills and training, innovation, research and development and increased productivity.
- Enhancing collaboration and strengthening partnerships to continue building linkages between not-for-profit organizations, post-secondary institutions, businesses, and potential investors.
- Stabilizing processes and systems to improve both internal and external service delivery.
Aligned with the next phase of Canada's Economic Action Plan, FedDev Ontario will continue its work to strengthen and diversify the southern Ontario economy through excellence in innovative programming, and by encouraging effective collaborations throughout the region.
The Honourable Gary Goodyear
Minister of State (Science and Technology)
(Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario)
