Canada-Ontario Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund
All funding for this program has been committed.
The Canada-Ontario Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund (COMRIF) is a partnership program between the governments of Canada and Ontario, the Association of Municipalities of Ontario, and Ontario municipalities to improve and renew small urban and rural public infrastructure across the province. Federal funding for COMRIF comes from the national Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund (MRIF).
COMRIF responds to local needs and priorities by helping to provide cleaner water, better sewage systems, upgraded waste management processes, and safer roads and bridges. Our overall aim is to support "green" projects that meet Canada's and Ontario's environmental objectives, while improving the health and safety of Ontario residents.
The federal and provincial governments have committed up to $596 million. Information on the more than 275 approved projects is available online.
