In January 2010, Clair Gartley was named the Vice-President, Business, Innovation and Community Development for FedDev Ontario.
Mr. Gartley brings with him more than 28 years experience from the provincial government in New Brunswick, where he was Assistant Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Bio-economy, as well as over five years experience in the federal government.
Prior to joining FedDev Ontario, he was the Director General for Innovation with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in Ottawa, where he led the development and delivery of a new national program engaging government, university and private sector researchers in support of industry led clusters and activities. He also championed the creation of programming that addresses pre-commercialization funding gaps and accelerates the uptake of technologies by the private sector.
Throughout his career, Mr. Gartley, has led multi-disciplinary teams in the development and implementation of large grants and contribution programs, established national and regional innovation initiatives and developed public and private sector partnerships.
Mr. Gartley grew up in New Brunswick and graduated with an engineering degree from the Technical University of Nova Scotia in Halifax.
The Business, Innovation and Community Development team is responsible for the delivery of the Agency's newest initiatives, as well as a number of existing community economic development programs. The programming promotes partnerships and enables industry to take a leadership role in shaping southern Ontario.
