Kingston, Ontario — The Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) was in Kingston today to celebrate progress underway on an innovative project at Transformix Engineering that has created local jobs and is helping the company diversify its business.

"Our investment is helping Transformix Engineering develop new technologies for agricultural business," said Minister Goodyear. "This support is another example of our government's commitment to creating jobs and growth in southern Ontario."

The Government of Canada is investing up to $2,233,960 through the Community Adjustment Fund for Transformix to develop machine technology that will improve agricultural yields for the production of sustainable biofuels.

"We are extremely grateful for FedDev Ontario's support of our new technologies, which have assisted a Kingston-based company to work on a global scale," said Peng-Sang Cau, President and CEO, Transformix Engineering Inc. "The manufacturing sector in Canada is tremendously important to the economy and we believe the Government of Canada's investment in this sector will reap many returns."

The Community Adjustment Fund in southern Ontario creates immediate employment opportunities and support for local economies that have been struggling with the effects of the global economic downturn.

FedDev Ontario was created as part of Canada's Economic Action Plan to support businesses and communities in southern Ontario. Now in its second year of operation, the Agency has launched a number of initiatives to create a Southern Ontario Advantage and place the region in a strong position to compete in the global economy. These initiatives are designed to support businesses and other organizations through partnerships and investments in skills and training; innovation; research and development; and increased productivity.
