Funding opportunities for southern Ontario organizations

Canada’s regional development agencies (RDAs) support the Government’s economic agenda by responding to the unique opportunities and challenges of Canadians and communities across the country. RDAs offer programming to foster the right environment to start and grow businesses and create the conditions for the development of strong, dynamic and inclusive regional innovation ecosystems.

With over $1 billion in funding, FedDev Ontario is making investments that drive innovation and growth across all of southern Ontario. Of this funding, an initial $100 million is dedicated to support for smaller and rural communities to continue their vital role in the region's economy. Applications can be submitted under our three funding streams that have been designed to meet the needs of our innovators, job creators and communities.

FedDev Ontario also delivers nationally coordinated programs tailored to fit regional needs and opportunities for growth.

Through the Women Entrepreneurship Strategy, the Agency is delivering more than $30 million to help women start and grow their businesses in southern Ontario.

The Regional Economic Growth through Innovation Steel and Aluminum Initiative, delivered by RDAs, provided $100 million across Canada to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within Canadian steel and aluminum supply chains to support innovative projects that will enhance productivity and/or competitiveness. FedDev Ontario has committed over $39 million in funding through this initiative.

FedDev Ontario also committed more than $11 million through the Canadian Experiences Fund. Delivered by RDAs, this program provides $58.5 million over two years to support communities across Canada as they create, improve or enhance tourism products, facilities and experiences.
